EVILE has confirmed that it will carry on as a band following the death of bassist Mike Alexander, who passed away on October 5, 2009 while on tour with the group in Sweden. According to guitarist Ol Drake, Mike died of a pulmonary embolism, a blockage of an artery in the lung.
EVILE is starting to audition bassists for the new year. Doing such a tough task so soon, with so little time until the new year tours, they are simply looking for an experienced, friendly and skilled professional bassist/musician.
Applicants must be able to commit 100% to the band, be expected to be available for extensive global (with valid passport) touring from January 2010 onwards, be a resident of the U.K. (preferably close to Huddersfield, but not necessary) and have touring/performing experience.
To apply please, email the following to [email protected]:
* Full Name
* Age
* Location
* A quality link to a video of you playing the bass (YouTube.com etc)
* A few pictures of yourself (on and off stage)
* Details of playing and gigging experiences
* Detail why you want to join the band
All applications must be received by December 8, 2009.
Two memorial shows for Mike Alexander have been announced:
Dec. 07 - Leeds, UK - Rio's
Dec. 08 - London, UK - Underworld
The band states: "The entrance fee will be £5 minimum as a donation to Mike's family. To raise more for Mike's family, we will be holding a tombola/raffle. Items will include gifts from bands from around the world — EXODUS, OVERKILL, HIRAX and many more being confirmed every day. Raffle tickets will be £10 with all takings going to the family."
EVILE has launched a tribute web site for Mike Alexander at this location.
EVILE's sophomore album, "Infected Nations", was released on September 21 in Europe and September 22 in the U.S. via Earache Records.
